Swartberg & the
Garden Route (5 Days)
The aim of this 5-day round trip is to see
and enjoy as much as possible of the superb scenery and interest
of the Great and Little Karoo, the Swartberg Mountains, and the
Garden Route areas.
It is suitable both for Cape residents who
know these areas but haven’t visited them for a while (our guide
will show you back roads, old secrets and new changes); and also
ideal for first-time visitors and those who have just moved into
the Cape. Those who do not know the Swartberg area well will be
amazed at the superb scenery of these wonderful mountains and
the semi-desert valleys near them - a total contrast to the lush
green forests and lagoons of the Garden Route.
We stay in Knysna (2 nts) and in the foothills of the Swartberg
Mountains north of Oudtshoorn (2). The tour features: the
coastal Garden Route, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, Storms River
mouth, the Swartberg Pass, Prince Albert, Meiringspoort gorge,
Calitzdorp, Seweweekspoort gorge, the semi-desert Buffels River
valley, the quaint Victorian village of Matjiesfontein, the Hex
River Valley and more. Optional extras include an ostrich farm,
and the Cango Caves.
